  • ENMAX is a leading public advocate for energy conservation and alternative energy production and established the "Generate Choice" program in 2011 -- the program helps customers make green energy choices, such as installing solar panels and wind turbines, and over 5,000 customers have expressed interest in the initiative since its inception, with over 258kW of solar and micro-wind generation coming online
  • ENMAX introduced a number of energy saving initiatives at city-owned facilities, including energy audits at several facilities, LED lighting installations at city-owned rinks, sub-metering installations to help identify consumption patterns, solar panel installations at four fire stations, and even a solar thermal heating system at a recreational centre -- the head office also features one of the provinces largest solar arrays, with over 200 PV panels -- the rooftop system not only generates electricity for the grid but provides the utility with a direct opportunity to study large scale systems operating in Calgary's climate
  • ENMAX hosts an annual "Environment Week" in June, which features a number of activities to create greater awareness of sustainability -- last year's event featured environmentally themed artwork from employees' children, a gardening lunch and learn and tours of the head office's rooftop solar array
