Recognized as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2017)

Here are some of the reasons why Keilhauer Ltd. was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2017):

  • In partnership with other furniture manufacturers, Keilhauer endeavoured to create a recycling program for the industry's largest waste source fabric -- collectively, the manufacturers' consortium is now recycling tonnes of fabric with Keilhauer alone recycling 10,500 pounds of fabric in the first 6 months of the program
  • Keilhauer launched an in-house "Design for Environment" training program for employees back in 2011 with the aim of minimizing the environmental impacts of its manufacturing processes, including the use of recycled materials, sourcing raw materials from sustainable sources where possible, conducting material assessments to address human and ecosystem impacts, reducing resource use in manufacturing, and creating products with long useful lives that are designed for easier disassembly, reuse or recycling
  • In partnership with the University of Toronto's Landscape Research Centre and the Partners in Project Green initiative, Keilhauer developed a green parking lot plan which features native planting species, bioswales and permeable pavement to reduce water run off
