  • Keilhauer was recognized by the Recycling Council of Ontario for its impressive waste diversion rates, which are part of the company's "Big Time Corporate Goal: Closed Loop Manufacturing", an underlying goal to address everything from the selection of materials to lifespan and recycling of its manufactured products to using renewable energy and creating zero waste from its operations
  • Keilhauer launched an in-house "Design for Environment" training program for employees in 2011 with the aim of minimizing environmental impacts of its manufacturing processes, including the use of recycled materials, sourcing raw materials from sustainable sources where possible, conducting material assessments to address human and ecosystem impacts, reducing resource use in manufacturing, and creating products with long useful lives, serviceable and repairable, and designed for easier disassembly, reuse or recycling
  • In partnership with the University of Toronto's Landscape Research Centre and the Partners in Project Green initiative, Keilhauer developed a green parking lot plan which features native planting species, bioswales and permeable pavement to reduce water run off
