Recognized as one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People (2017)

Here are some of the reasons why Metrolinx was selected as one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People (2017):

  • Metrolinx created the Rob MacIsaac Fellowship Program, a unique initiative that allows students to complete research in a public sector environment -- participants receive financial assistance to conduct research on a transportation-related issue over a 4-month period with guidance from senior Metrolinx staff -- previous topics included the implementation of solar power shades in Metrolinx parking lots, and the impacts and challenges of moving freight on transit
  • In partnership with Centennial College, Metrolinx manages a Truck and Coach Technician Apprenticeship program (operating since 1997) -- the organization hires approximately 5 apprentices each year who work under professional mentors for a 10-month period
  • Additionally, Metrolinx recently partnered with The United Way and Ready, Willing and Able to generate employment opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorder
