Recognized as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2016)

Here are some of the reasons why RONA Inc. was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2016):

  • As a major purchaser of wood products, RONA Inc. developed a specific Wood Products Procurement Policy that defaults to purchasing wood products certified to recognized standards, including Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC), Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)
  • RONA Inc. implemented a number of energy saving initiatives across its corporate stores, including reduced heating and air conditioning usage and moving to energy efficient lighting, which reduced electricity consumption by 12.9 kWh (a reduction of over 540 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and savings of over $650,000)
  • RONA Inc. encourages customers to make greener choices every day, offering over 2,000 eco-friendly products -- each product is subject to a unique "life cycle analysis", developed in partnership with École Polytechnique de Montréal, and addresses everything from the resources used to the manufacturing processes to create the product through to usage and the product's final disposal
Over 95% of plants sold in RONA's stores are now grown without the use of neonicotinoids
