Recognized as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2016)

Here are some of the reasons why SAS Canada was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2016):

  • SAS Canada recently established a new Green Committee, comprised of employees from across the country who meet monthly to brainstorm and implement new ideas, such as litterless lunch days, an Earth Hour Social to raise environmental awareness, the maintenance of an organic rooftop garden, aggressive recycling and composting programs, and the purchase of a company bicycle for employees to sign-out as needed
  • SAS Canada's "Bright and Green Ideas" suggestion program features special rewards for employees who provide feedback and suggestions to create a greener work environment -- previous suggestions include the introduction of green bins for organic waste disposal, transit subsidies for employees using public transit and even a subsidy for employees selecting hybrid automobiles
  • SAS Canada constructed the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certified commercial office building in Canada, which utilized 55 percent recyclable materials in its construction and incorporates many energy-saving features to ensure the building consumes up to 65 percent less energy than a comparable structure -- impressively, the company is introducing additional features with the goal of obtaining enhanced LEED certification status
