  • Along with being active in many industry initiatives to address sustainable technology manufacturing, BlackBerry has ingrained the three R's (reduce, reuse and recycle) into its operations for many years -- as a result, the company has led its industry in achieving many technological firsts as well as achieving a waste diversion rate of 87 percent -- the company also extended its approach through a supplier code of conduct policy to encourage product suppliers to follow suit
  • BlackBerry adopts LEED standards for new construction, having achieved LEED Silver for buildings at its Waterloo campus and LEED Gold certification for 2 additional buildings in Canada and the United States -- the company also offers 18 dedicated electric vehicle charging stations at its Waterloo and Ottawa locations, with one available for public use as part of the "Sun Country Highway" network of over 80 stations across Canada
  • BlackBerry has participated in the international Carbon Disclosure Project since 2009 -- the not-for-profit initiative provides a formal system for companies to measure, disclose, manage and share emissions and climate change information
