  • DIALOG developed its Carbon Action Plan in 2012, which addresses all operational areas of the firm, from electricity and natural gas usage to air travel and daily commuting to water and paper usage -- the firm seeks to reduce its operational footprint and ultimately operate in a carbon neutral manner through a unique "offsetting" partnership with Community Forests International and the purchase of 66 hectares of forest in the province of New Brunswick
  • As part of its line of business, DIALOG helps influence and change the way buildings and renovations are planned and constructed -- the firm completed over 90 LEED certified (or pending certification) and is a longstanding member of the Canadian Green Building Council and the US Green Building Council, with over 160 LEED accredited professionals working across the firm

  • Last year, DIALOG hosted the inaugural Design Residency in Honour of Tom Sutherland, the firm's late managing principal, to identify and address an issue for the benefit of the community -- open to a cohort of students from a variety of disciplines, DIALOG facilitates and fully funds the 3-day workshop, which includes a variety of internal and external speakers, mentors to help inform the work of the group, and a presentation and reception that includes members of the affected community and the host studio, which will rotate each year
