Recognized as one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People (2019):

Here are some of the reasons why DIALOG was selected as one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People (2019):

  • DIALOG developed "integratededucation", a training program designed to help assist teams in developing their careers, as well as allow younger employees to learn from senior colleagues while growing into roles of increased responsibility -- the program currently offers over 300 sessions per year in a variety of areas including building technology, furniture and finishes, integrated design, project management, software and computing, to name a few
  • DIALOG employees have the opportunity to participate in the internal Iris Prize competition, a scholarship that includes 2 weeks of paid leave and up to $7,500 to conduct field research in an area of personal interest relevant to the practice of architecture, engineering, interior design, planning, urban design or landscape architecture -- at the end of the research period, the recipients tour all four of DIALOG's Canadian studios to present their findings
  • Last year, DIALOG hosted the inaugural Design Residency in Honour of Tom Sutherland, the firm's late managing principal, to identify and address an issue for the benefit of the community -- open to a cohort of students from a variety of disciplines, DIALOG facilitates and fully funds the 3-day workshop, which includes a variety of internal and external speakers, mentors to help inform the work of the group, and a presentation and reception that includes members of the affected community and the host studio, which will rotate each year
DIALOG staff are encouraged to share their work and ideas with the team to get feedback on a regular basis

Here are some of the reasons why DIALOG was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2019):

  • DIALOG has signed on to the American Institute of Architects 2030 Commitment to ensure that all new buildings and major renovations are designed to be carbon-neutral by 2030 -- the initiative will also ensure that staff are trained on the latest sustainable design practices as the firm works towards the ambitious goal
  • In addition to their role in building for the future, DIALOG employees participate in a number of community initiatives including the annual Commuter Challenge, to encourage employees to walk, take transit, car pool or bike to work, as well as Earth Day celebrations, with each studio hosting its own events (from neighbourhood clean-ups to presentations on green projects)
  • DIALOG developed its Carbon Action Plan in 2012, which addresses all operational areas of the firm, from electricity and natural gas usage to air travel and daily commuting to water and paper usage -- the firm seeks to reduce its operational footprint and ultimately operate in a carbon neutral manner through a unique "offsetting" partnership with Community Forests International and the purchase of 66 hectares of forest in the province of New Brunswick
