Keilhauer Ltd.
To help save the declining bee population, Keilhauer planted local, native wildflowers at their headquarters in Toronto

Recognized as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2019):

Here are some of the reasons why Keilhauer Ltd. was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2019):

  • Keilhauer has eliminated single-use packaging for all outbound shipments in favour of blanket-wrapped shipments -- impressively, the initiative helps the company load more into each truck and led to the elimination of over 98,000 boxes in 2017 (over 1 million since the program began in 2000)
  • Keilhauer's longstanding Design for the Environment Team meets early in the design process to evaluate the impact of new products over the entire course of their practical lifespan, from material selection and manufacturing to product maintenance and end-of-life recycling and disposal -- all of the company's products are designed to be repairable and come with a 10 year warranty policy
  • Keilhauer continues to follow a goal of reaching zero waste to landfill through extensive recycling beyond municipally mandated minimums -- the firm collects everything from organics, batteries and e-waste to leather and all textiles for reuse -- additionally, the extensive textile recycling program includes donations to the Textile Museum of Canada (for fundraising) and the Toronto District School Board (for educational purposes)
