Recognized as one of Canada's Greenest Employers

Here are some of the reasons why Ocean Wise Conservation Association was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2018):

  • Is the founder of the 'Ocean Wise Seafood' program, which works tirelessly with more than 700 partners in Canada to recommend ocean-friendly seafood choices to ensure that "ocean life will be abundant for generations to come" -- is also a founding partner of the longstanding 'Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup', a national conservation initiative that "encourages people to take action in their communities wherever water meets land, one bit of trash at a time" -- employees also host their own monthly in-house lunch hour clean-ups along the shores of Stanley Park
  • Ocean Wise Conservation Association's head office at the Vancouver Aquarium is the first zoo or aquarium building in the world to achieve LEED Gold status -- the building boasts many unique green features, including the collection of rainwater for its irrigation and toilet systems, planting native foliage for landscaping, and the use of seawater to help regulate building temperatures
