Sheridan Nurseries Limited

Recognized as one of Canada's Greenest Employers

Here are some of the reasons why Sheridan Nurseries Limited was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2018):

  • Sheridan Nurseries manages a massive water recapture pond to collect rainwater and water run-off from its operations into a 117 million litre pond (covering an area of 1.4 hectares) that naturally filters water through a series of settling ponds and reduces the company's water draw from local sources by approximately 24% -- the company nearly doubled its collection capacity with the recent addition of a 100 million litre pond at its Glen Williams farm property
  • Sheridan Nurseries is a good example of an organization that is tackling the impacts of its operations directly through its large pot recycling program -- the program includes a goal of ensuring the return and reuse of 50% of the larger pots sold (in 2015 this number was 25%) -- the company also takes back all smaller pots for recycling since many municipal programs do not accept these containers, with over 45,350kg captured last year
